Nicole Dooley began her classical pilates training in 2003, studying under the direct tutelage of Bob Liekens, at NYC's esteemed Power Pilates. After completing her certification, Power Pilates hired her, and she worked alongside Bob for several years. In 2007, Nicole took the next step and opened her first studio, The Pilates Boutique, in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. She then became a teacher trainer for Power Pilates in 2010 and in 2013 she opened a second Pilates Boutique location in Union Square, NYC.
After teaching pilates to teachers and students for over two decades, Nicole is well versed in working with healthy individuals as well as those with physical limitations. She has a particular expertise in pre and post natal pilates, having taught and practiced pilates throughout her three pregnancies. While Nicole is a stickler about the precise execution of the method, her warmth and sense of humor will keep the experience fun.
In 2019, Nicole moved with her husband, three children two cats and a dog to Los Angeles where she is bringing her East Coast style of pilates to the West Coast.
Pilates was invented in 1920's NYC by German ex pat, Joseph Pilates and his wife Clara. A series of specific exercises performed on apparatus that Joe invented, pilates can challenge, rehabilitate and move your body to whole body health. Easily adaptable for each person, pilates can be done throughout your entire lifespan. As Joe said "change happens through movement and movement heals."
